Tickets Now On Sale: Outstanding in the Field

This looks really amazing and I'm thinking El Jefe and I might just have to find a way to justify spending $360 on dinner (and wine) for two when Outstanding in the Field comes to Riverbend Farms in Delano, MN on Tuesday, July 26th. Tickets just went on sale today and several of the stops around the country are already sold out. One of those will be in early May at McEvoy Olive Oil Ranch in Petaluma, CA, which strangely enough I used to do PR for when I lived in SF. I felt lucky to spend time on Nan McEvoy's gorgeous ranch of olive trees, as I escorted writers from food magazines throughout the property, laughing as we tried to balance bottles of olive oil in the olive trees for a perfect photo. I'm sure this will be incredible at McEvoy, and at every location they've chosen. I got to attend an investors dinner that was similar to this a few years ago at PlumpJack winery in Napa for my SF PR job as well, and in addition to chatting and chuckling with Gavin Newsom and his then wife Kimberly Guilfoyle, it was one of the most incredible dining experiences of my life - a fantastic 4-course meal with perfectly paired wines outside at the winery as the sun went down and stars came out on a gorgeous September night. Then my co-worker bestie and I drove back to the city and attended a white trash party, still dressed for Napa. Sometimes I really miss my old job and SF...but am looking forward to checking this out July 26th in Delano..wherever that is.

"Our mission is to re-connect diners to the land and the origins of their food, and to honor the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it.

Outstanding in the Field is a roving culinary adventure – literally a restaurant without walls. Since 1999 we have set the long table at farms or gardens, on mountain tops or in sea caves, on islands or at ranches. Occasionally the table is set indoors: a beautiful refurbished barn, a cool greenhouse or a stately museum. Wherever the location, the consistent theme of each dinner is to honor the people whose good work brings nourishment to the table.

Ingredients for the meal are almost all local (sometimes sourced within inches of your seat at the table!) and generally prepared by a celebrated chef of the region. After a tour of the site, we all settle in: farmers, producers, culinary artisans, and diners sharing the long table."
