Foodie News: Steven Brown at Nick & Eddie

I'm excited to hear that chef Steven Brown, who recently left Porter & Frye, is currently in the kitchen at Nick & Eddie. I really love the space and the bar but was not impressed with the food when I went there last year, so I plan to give it a second chance very soon. Nobody knows how long Steven will stay but apparently he's been making some great small plates and specials. And according to Dara's blog at Minnesota Monthly, they are "opening an Absinthe room in May—a special back room with big truck loading-dock doors that is near the alley that separates Nick and Eddie from the CafĂ© Lurcat space—and Steven is designing the menu that will be specific to that room as well." Woot! I'm so there.

We were just at Cafe Lurcat Saturday night sitting by the window on the alley and I was saying someone should do something with that space. I have always wanted to throw a Bastille Day party in that alley like they do in the downtown area I call "Little France" in San Francisco, on Belden Place near Plouf. Every July 14th they have amazing DJs spinning deep house while everyone dances in the alley, drinking red wine in their beret and scarves. Maybe this year. Tres magnifique!
