First Visit To Target Field

I truly love our three-story loft with private roof deck in the North Loop/Warehouse District and would not want to live anywhere else in the Twin Cities right now..especially after spending Saturday afternoon at the new Target Field, literally less than four blocks from our home. The U of M Gophers baseball team played a game there (horribly) and tix were $2, so when some friends texted to say they were in our neighborhood, we had to walk over to check it out. (Another bonus for the summer - always having friends coming into our hood, wanting to meet up before and/or after games, which we love.) Jefe and I were seriously blown away - its truly a work of art, a masterpiece, even better than we could have imagined. With modern design, decor and lounges, views of the gorgeous downtown skyline, well-organized food stands with lots of great choices (I mainly attend sporting events for the food, so this is key) and a tight space of a truly downtown ballpark where every seat gives you an incredible view, it is truly spectacular. I had tears in my eyes when I first walked in - its that amazing.

Of course we ran in to/overheard several bitter, passive aggressive, highly annoying Minneostans who found reasons to complain - one old bat spied the amazing firepit up on the Budweiser deck - complete with a huge bar I will be taking full advantage of this summer - and mumbled something about how she hopes they have "liability insurance." Umm, I think most people know not to faceplant into a firepit, lady. And at what other baseball stadium in the country can you watch baseball, drink a cocktail and, if its a chilly spring or fall night, warm up alongside an extremely modern firepit? This other guy told us how annoyed he was that the Exit signs weren't big enough. Umm sir, if you cannot figure out how to exit a baseball stadium - which btw is not difficult in the slightest - the signs are the least of your concerns. Follow the sound of the Light Rail train directly outside the stadium. Is it easier for you to navigate the marshmellow monstrosity known as the Metrodome?? Its just shocking to me how so many people cannot adjust to change at all and will find reasons to complain about anything and everything, even when in the midst of something truly extraordinary. I don't really care about the haters though - if you don't like it, don't come to see outdoor baseball this summer on a beautiful warm night...stay on your couch in Woodbury and watch Dancing with the Stars. Those of us who are normal human beings will gladly walk 4 blocks and appreciate Twins games, cold beers, local brats and city views at the new outdoor Target Field. Because it is nothing short of spectacular.
