Phoenix Rocked First Ave Last Night.

I like a lot of songs by these Frenchies known as Phoenix and decided to try to get extremely last minute tix to their sold out show at First Ave last night. We met up with some friends at Seven where I had a refreshing virgin mojito and then headed over to try to get tix, which turned out to be insanely easy. People had been selling them on Craigslist and outside of First Ave for like $40-60 each and Jeff and I both picked ours up for $15 - probably could have gotten them for $5 after the show had started. Lesson learned: Even if a show is sold out, just go down and try to get in, you probably will. I refuse to pay Ticketmaster's ridiculous fees and there's really no need to, ever. The opening band Chairlift was pretty good and then Phoenix rocked the house. It was good to see people dancing with abandon in the crowd instead of just standing there like robots like they normally do at rock shows. They are kind of a dance/rock hybrid with lots of flashing lights and they put on a tres magnifique show. Viva la France! And La Phoenix.
