We spent my 35th birthday in Santa Monica and Venice with some of our favorite friends who came in from a few different cities, and now I am slightly obsessed with moving there someday. I've always loved Santa Monica and discovered how cool Abbot Kinney in Venice is after having my bday dinner at Gjelina. We had a cozy table for 9 on the patio with vino and lots of amazing small plates from pizza to pate. Then it was on to a sushi restaurant down the street for a cocktail and off to the Viceroy hotel for a couple of sassy drinks by the pool. We stayed at the Sheraton Delfina in Santa Monica with our besties from OC and had hotel parties on our balcony overlooking the ocean both nights. Saturday we had brunch on the beach, walked to the pier and had some beers outside on the water before meeting friends at the Huntley Hotel for drinks, going to Fig for a yummy but not cheap dinner and then to The Bungalow for outdoor cocktails under the lanterns. Sunday one of our friends who's a fantastic chef had the brilliant idea to meet up on the beach and bring bagels, lox and mimos. We spent several hours just chillin in the sand and it was pretty fantastic. Then we headed up to the Reel Inn in Malibu for steamed clams, clam chowder and shrimp tacos..and headed back down to OC. Such a fun weekend..can't wait to go back.
