Minneapolis Really Is An Amazing City..

Why We're Here: Twin Cities from Seven and Sixty Productions on Vimeo.

..I wouldn't live there if it weren't. I like this video but they don't even mention the main reason why I love Minneapolis: the incredible people who live there. After spending 6 weeks back in The OC, I am feeling more fortunate than ever that I met Jeff and get to experience life in the midwest and the deep friendships that go with it. If I hadn't met him, I'd probably still be in Cali and would never have known what I was missing...just like all the people who grew up here, never left, and seemingly have no idea that there is a big world with a lot more going on outside of this perfect little bubble. While we have family and a few amazing friends we love very much in SoCal, nobody we know here has experienced anything close to the things that make us love MN. Like our annual cabin weekends with 30 friends to a lake in Wisconsin. Or our more intimate twice-a-year excursions to Sugar Loaf on Lake Superior with 10 of our closest friends and their kiddies, who are prettymuch like family. Or spending all day boating on Lake Minnetonka with fun friends who bring silly costumes and want to float and drink fruity cocktails in the sun all day. Or getting together with groups of friends for Pizza Bake Offs, Summer Soulstice Parties, Indian Feasts, Game Nights, Rooftop Parties, Texas Hold'em Tourneys, BBQs, Live Concerts, DJ Shows, Bar Hopping Bike Rides, Baseball Games, Outdoor Movies,  Leaf Peeping Hikes, Pumpkin Patch and Apple Orchard Excursions, etc. Or who still dress up for Halloween with 300 friends over the age of 30. Or being in softball/kickball/curling leagues where you hang out before, during and after the game with some beers. Those things just aren't happening in The OC. And while it truly is a beautiful place with perfect weather that I'll always love, I'd rather live in (sometimes) chilly MN where life is a lot more interesting and we have a deeply fulfilling life that I don't really think is possible to have in The OC.Though it is awesome to spend January here and we are planning to rent the same place for a month every winter for the next few years for sure...our home sweet home is in good old Minnesnowda.
