I've Been There, And I Can Assure You..It's Freaky: Supper Club San Francisco

Forbes Travel listed some of America's strangest restaurants in a recent article and it just so happens I've been to exactly one of them: Supper Club SF. It was definitely one of the stranger dining experiences I've had..they kept an air of mystery throughout the evening so you never really knew what was going to happen. There are several Supper Clubs around the world from Amsterdam to Istanbul and it definitely felt foreign. After a couple of drinks in the bar area with burlesque ladies dancing (stripping) on chairs nearby, which felt like it could have been some sort of strange meet & greet for a sex club but thankfully wasn't, all 150 guests for the evening were then allowed to enter the main dining section, made up of beds. No tables, just a sea of white beds around the perimeter of the room. Which also reminds me of the massive, continuous pillow fight that took place in a separate room and looking back, was really quite odd. Luckily I'm all about comfort and did not eating a fantastic 5-course meal while lounging on a comfy bed with my shoes off, drinking pink bubbly. Even when we were not given silverware but surgical gloves for one course and had to eat scallops with our glove encased hands. While we dined, we watched strange euro acrobats dangle from rings, soar through the air, walk on stilts and generally creep us out in various ways. After dinner, our dining establishment suddenly transformed into an epic nightclub with pulsing lights and an amazing DJ. So we wound up putting a few friends on the guest list, ordered more bubbles and stayed in our comfy bed/lounge area til closing, spending quite a few benjamins in the process. Luckily we were shmoozing a client and could expense the whole thing. Not sure I'd go there again, but it was definitely a memorable dining experience.
