Secrets of The City Recommends..An Evening with Wil Natzel @ The Soap Factory Tonight - 6-8 pm. Free. After-Party @ Aster Cafe.

If you haven't yet popped by the Soap Factory this month for a gander at the amazing What Remains exhibit, tonight is the perfect chance to do just that. Join installation artist Wil Natzel, as he chats about the concept and the creation of his piece for the show, "Suspended Cardboard Domes with Giant Squid, 2010." While the title of this piece is pretty much literal, it's definitely one gigantic, looming monstrosity you've got to see to believe. Also included in the exhibit are a number of truly Soap Factory-worthy large-scale works by a wide variety of local and national artists. See Kathleen Griffin's delectable candy chandlier, a huge yet delicate installation made out of bright red sugar shards; Hong Seon Jang's maddening garden of black plastic strips that seemed to have organically encroached upon an entire wall and a portion of the floor, along with many more unusual, mind-bending works of art. Always a gallery to push the boundaries of art and interpretation, the Soap continually "remains" one of our favorite art spots in town. Tonight's closing will include an artist talk with Natzel as well as complimentary apps and iced tea. An after party is planned from at the Aster Cafe just down the street at St. Anthony Main. The closing reception runs from 6-8pm and is free and open to the public (donations accepted). For more info visit www.soapfactory.org.
