North Shore Lake Superior Love

We spent the weekend at our annual North Shore Lake Superior getaway to "Sugar Loaf" - our friend's parent's cabin that is nothing short of spectacular. We've gone there every year since 2005 and its always uber relaxing - we go there with some of our closest friends and proceed to: drink (der), drink in the hot tub while looking out at the lake, roast marshmellows and play guitar by the bonfire, read books, take naps, play texas hold'em, listen to the waves lap against the rocky shore, read trashy mags and discuss pop culture (esp our shared hatred of Kristen Stewart and love of Edward/RPatz), gossip, play with the kiddies and just chill. Then there's always the day excursion to Lutsen for some Alpine sliding and lunch at the restaurant nearby. We happened to catch the end of the World Cup game of US vs Ghana on a gigantic TV screen - it was the only world cup game I've watched but it was a good one. The weather is usually rainy/foggy with bits of sunshine until the last day when we're getting ready to leave, when the bright sun makes an appearance and its perfection. This year we stayed longer on Sunday afternoon than we usually do, which was by far the best weather, and I got some great shots of Lake Superior and the gorgeous clouds..
