Kind of sad that Nip/Tuck is airing their series finale tonight..it's an excellent show that at times has been highly addicting, at others, kind of boring. The LA Times sums it up nicely with this article - the show, much like plastic surgery, was more popular from 2004-2007 when it reflected the wasteful spending and greed of Americans who thought flipping their suburban McMansions with granite countertops would make them rich and classy ladies in Juicy Couture weren't afraid to put a pair of DDs on the Amex, along with an H3. Times have changed a lot since then though: people are stuck with the credit card receipts, houses they can't sell or pay for, gas guzzlers they can't get rid of and silicone they can't afford to remove from their chestal cavities even if they start to leak. The Nip/Tuck storyline has addressed how pathetic plastic surgery really is these days..(see: Heidi Montag who looks like a crazy cat lady in the making/blow up doll, or Lynn from Real Housewives of OC, who didn't have the money and was about to face eviction, but got a facelift that makes her look insane anyway.) People are turning to botox for a little fill in here and there, but to actually go under the knife is just so..2004.
