The Depot Tavern Opening at First Ave in May

I like news like this. Bring on the independently owned new bars and restaurants surrounding the incredible new Twins stadium please.

Announcing First Avenue’s new restaurant The Depot Tavern
“As we celebrate the long history of First Avenue, we will also be celebrating the opening of The Depot Tavern. Set to open in May, The Depot Tavern will be your neighborhood bar in downtown Minneapolis. The restaurant will offer what we believe to be the best burgers in town, along with grilled cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, french fries, cheese curds and more. With items such as “The Diamond Dog”, a ¼ pound all beef hot dog, wrapped with pepper bacon and deep-fried on a pretzel bun, the menu will appeal to concertgoers and Twins fans alike. It will be conveniently open during the day so you can enjoy lunch and purchase First Avenue merchandise and concert tickets even when the club is closed.”

The VIP Room is now The Record Room
“First Avenue is excited to announce that we will be transforming the VIP Room into The Record Room. In addition to the name change, the space will also be getting a makeover as local artist Greg Gossel will be installing a massive mural in the room. Rest assured, it will still be the home to some of the best local and national DJs and dance nights. Join us on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at 10pm when we will be celebrating the renovation with a Passion Pit after party featuring DJ sets from Passion Pit, The Moon Goons, Famuel, Ricky Biggs and Upgrayde.”
