Game Works at Block E - Going Going Gone...
The miserable failure/experiment of suburban lameness smack dab in the middle of downtown Minneapolis known as Block E will be even more desolate and depressing now that Game Works has shut their doors. Pretty ridiculous that starting in 2 weeks, about 30,000 people will come spilling out of the amazing new Twins stadium after games looking for places to stuff their faces and stumble upon a huge abandoned mall, haunted by ghosts of Hooters, Borders, Escape (remember that smoke machine club of lameness??) and Game Works, across from the spooky goblin known as Chevy's, that still sits empty. When are the city planners in Minneapolis going to learn to leave the chains in the burbs? They don't work in downtown, so stop building them. We need more reasonably priced, quality chef owned restaurants like 112 Eatery and Bar La Grassa that already thrive downtown and will be a huge draw for foodie baseball fans from Chicago, New York and other major cities, who like it or not will inevitably come to check out the new Target Field and spend a weekend in our fair city this summer. Which is something that hasn't really happened before, so Minnesotans will have to get used to a more urban experience, interacting with people from all over the US. Just like in Field of Dreams, we built it, and they will come.
