Weekend Highlights:
1. Kicking it off with our Beantown Besties Thursday night with happy hour at aloft Minneapolis where they were staying - its a great space with a fab modern patio with firepit. Need to make this a new hangout - cheap drinks, snacks and games. Loves it.
2. Introducing Besties to all the delicious bar food at Bulldog NE - D and I split the truffled chicken nuggets, tater tots with siracha mayo that somehow tastes like nacho cheese, a brat and a Stilton burger. Way too much food but amazing. We had a bunch of friends join us down there and we had the time.
3. A much needed spa day at Ivy Spa Friday afternoon. I had an 80-minute deep tissue massage with Bobby who is one of the best masseuses I've had - he successfully worked out all the kinks and turned me into a pile of mush. I used the awesome gym before the massage and spent some time in the hot tub and steam room after. Fantastic.
4. Happy hour at Azia where a friend ordered a mango martini with citron vodka so I had to get the same and it was awesome. My new favorite cocktail at Azia. We also guzzled down some white wine and amazing sushi - the Shiromaguro or super white tuna is my favorite. Order it! Somehow I parked Rosario in a tight spot right outside of Azia between a mo-ped and a motorcyle and got a round of applause from people on the patio for my parking prowess. When you live in SF for 7 years, you learn how to parallel park.
5. The Masquerade Ball which turned out to be a bit of a disappointment as almost nobody wore a mask and it just felt like any other event. Five was a cool space but kind of a strange layout for an event since there are 2 levels and it splits people up. We walked upstairs and found a bunch of 20-somethings in prom dresses slow dancing to Unchained Melody. But I soon discovered the chocolate fountain and stood there for quite a while dipping strawberries and rice krispy treats in the chocolate. We met some fun peeps outside but left after one drink to meet up with some other friends.
5. I was able to infiltrate the boys-only Scotch Club, because it was being hosted at the amazing loft for sale right next to ours. I actually love scotch, and can just be one of the boys, so I had a good time and met some cool new scotch-lovin' cats.
6. A Saturday afternoon late lunch at Lucia's wine bar. We ran into 4 different friends randomly while sitting there, and enjoyed a few glasses of sauvignon blanc, a bowl of soup, a salad and small pizza - prettymuch everything they have on the menu in the afternoons, and everything was fab. Then we walked around Lake Calhoun and I inspected every tree to see if I could see some green. The trees are just starting to pop and the spring bloom cannot seem to get here fast enough.
7. Cocktails and dinner at Lurcat to celebrate one of my bestie's birthdays. I was disappointed they were out of the Blackberry Iced Tea cocktail since blackberry tea is my new addiction so I will have to go back. I was very happy to learn they have kept the $30 pre-fixe menu for April and you really can't ask for a better deal for an appetizer, entree and dessert. I had the bacon, tomato blue cheese salad, Miso glazed Seabass and dark chocolate profiteroles with caramel ice cream, all for $30. Amazing. And super fun night with close friends.
8. A baby shower at a friend's fabulous photo studio in NE Minneapolis with some great friends we had not seen in a while.
9. White wine on the roofdeck to watch the gorg sunset - it cooled off a bit so I wrapped up in a blanket and our neighbor was on his roofdeck with his cute new puppy so we had him over for a bit.
10. Dinner with the Beantown Besties at Barrio - one of my favorite spots for margs and cheap Mexican - I had the chicken enchilada and a mahi mahi taco. Delish. Then we had to show them the new W so had Coors Light by the fire and then headed to The Local for one more and home to pass out after a very busy but fun weekend.
