Thankfully, it was a nice mellow weekend here at The V-List. My hubby Jeff has been consulting on a project in San Francisco for the last 7 months so our lives were insanely hectic as we bounced from MN, SF, Russian River/wine country and Southern Cali, making the most of our crazy little adventure back in the Bay Area. He's working in Minneapolis now and its nice to get back into a routine of seeing friends, working out, cooking dinner, etc. - normal things its been hard to do with our recent travel schedule. And with snowy/freezing temps its fantastic to just chill and hibernate for a while. A few things that made me happy this weekend:
1. Kicking it off Thursday night with good friends and a few stiff drinks at Monte Carlo & Club Jager
2. Basil Fried Rice at Tum Rup Thai Friday night - maybe not the healthiest option but SO GOOD on a snowy night.
3. Hearing about some friends' recent trip to Los Cabos, where we are planning to go next month. They saw whales from the resort, and due to my inexplicable obsession with whales and seeing their tales, this means I'm IN. Oh and Clooney and a bunch of celebs were staying at the same resort. But did I mention the whales??
4. Shopping: crazy sales at stores right now - 50% off cashmere sweater from Banana Republic - I'll take it.
5. A 4-hour dinner with two of our best friends at Red Stagg Supper Club that included an incredible (and cheap) Argentinian Malbec, filet mignon w mash potatoes (Yum), carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (double Yum) and hearing about someone we know who posted pics of himself and Danny Bonaduce in S&M poses (ew). Good times.
6. Finally taking our Christmas tree down and getting it out of the loft wrapped up in a tarp instead of trying to chop it up and take it down in pieces like we did last year. A lot less messy/sappy.
7. Dates with my hilarious & amazing husby - esp one that included watching the snow fall and drinking red wine all cozy inside Toast Wine Bar.
8. Working out on a Sunday night - doesn't happen often but I've gotta get in shape for Los Cabos (whales!) and Winter Music Conference in South Beach in March.
9. Watching Kate Winslet win 2 awards at the Golden Globes - well deserved since she is an amazing actress, Tracy's Morgan's hilarious acceptance speech and outfit - I'm still laughing at the money coat and solid gold shoes he wore on Thursday's 30 Rock, and seeing JLo look like an actual Golden Globe.
10. Finally ordering Showtime and watching the entire 2nd season of Californication On Demand. In one day. Yes, I have a problem.
