Here's Where You're Watching The Oscars in 2013:

I'm pretty excited that since I'm handling PR for this event, I'll be slipping on a fancy gown and joining glamorous Minneapolitans to watch The Oscars, dine on a delicious 3-course meal, sip bubbly, play games, enjoy the skyline from the year-round rooftop lounge and receive a fully stocked swag bag..instead of wearing my usual sweats and slippers at home, fast forwarding through the boring speeches and commercials. This is going to be a fabulous event at the swanky new Union in downtown Minneapolis. Save the date (2.24.13) and I'll see you there..

BACKGROUND:
The mission of the Aegis Foundation is to enhance the lives of young people by financially supporting organizations that provide safe, supportive environments and specialize in services, alternative education, life skills, vocational training, homelessness, pregnancy, STD and HIV/AIDS prevention and other youth related concerns.

Smile Network International funds surgical missions and provides necessary supplies needed to repair birth defects, with a focus on cleft lips, cleft palates and other conditions requiring surgical intervention such as burns, tumors or other genetic defects. The surgeries are free of charge and are available to children who would otherwise go untreated. For as little as $500 per surgery, a child who once lived with shame will be given the gift of a happier, healthier life. The mission of Smile Network Internations is simple..To reconstruct lives..one bright, smiling face at a time.

The Sanneh Foundation's goal is to work in partnership with schools and communities utilizing soccer as a tool to cultivate leadership, fight racism, serve the community, and prepare youth for success. We cultivate leadership through after school leadership and mentoring programs offered on-site in urban schools. They fight racism by recruiting and supporting youth from immigrant communities in urban and suburban soccer clubs and provide diversity training for players, parents and coaches. They serve the community by providing opportunities for youth to do community service and distributing soccer gear and equipment to underserved communities nationwide. They prepare youth for success by offering in-school and after school tutoring and academic support, and encouraging student athletes to pursue - and preparing them for - college.
