Weekend Highlights - SoCal Style:

 1. Walking Gus around Laguna Beach Friday afternoon on a perfect, 75 degree, sunny day. Lunching on a fab shrimp caesar salad at an outdoor cafe down the PCH and feeding Gus little chunks of banana and avocado, which he can't seem to get enough of.

2. Having my parents watch Gus overnight so we could hit the town with our hilarious little OC gang.

3. Watching the gorgeous sunset from the bar at Surf & Sand resort literally on the beach with El Jefe and a couple of yummy cocktails before hanging with our friends.

4. Having several friends over to our place for drinks, walking to downtown Laguna one mile away - grabbing fish tacos at Taco Loco on the way, then dancing them off at a random Belgian bar/restaurant called Brussels to a pretty good DJ - the most happening night in downtown Laguna Beach.

5. Waking up with OC besties who crashed at our place, hungover and heading directly to Coyote Grill for delicious Mexican brunch and mimos overlooking the ocean.

6. Hanging on our deck with more mimos, then hitting the beach with said besties, bringing their dog, beach blankets and some white wine down to our almost private little cove just 3 blocks away to enjoy the gorgeous, 75 degree day and play in the sand and surf. My crazy hubby went all the way in - twice. The water is freezing but he's a true Minnesotan with some sort of polar plunge wishes, apparently.

7. Getting Baby G back Saturday afternoon after the beach - I missed that little guy! My sister and her friend brought him back and proceeded to join our fun little OC foodie gang for dinner.

8. Walking down to Natraj for a divine Indian dinner - seriously delish. And the owner came over and offered to hold Gus so we could eat, which we swiftly took her up on. She was wearing a gorgeous sari and necklace that Gus loved and he just chilled with her for 20 minutes while we dined. Kind of amazing, and awesome. And walking back home - I love not having a car and walking everywhere.

9. Watching a surprisingly funny Gwyneth Paltrow host SNL, then sleeping extremely well due to  our delicious Indian dinner - it always makes me full and uber sleepy..how do they stay awake in that country??

10. Meeting one of my oldest, most hilarious friends and his beau for brunch at Mozambique close to our place..we discovered the happy hour at this place the other night and its fantastic. Delicious $5 cocktails every day from 4-6 pm with a perfect vantage point to watch the sunset. Brunch was even better with $6 bottomless mimosas and the best huevos rancheros I've ever had. I will be there every Sunday we are in Laguna..and probably a few other nights for sunset happy hour.

11. Going over to our favorite DJ/friend's house nearby to hang in the backyard, watch football and have a lovely late lunch. I heart him and his family - got to introduce them all to Baby G which was extra awesome. He loved smiling at their daughter who's just a few months older than he is - so cute to see them together.

12. Watching Ricky Gervais host the Golden Globes - he's really the only reason I tuned it at all. I only caught the last half but loved every joke he told and anyone saying he was "too mean" needs to grow a pair..and a sense of humor.
