Weekend Highlights:

1. Late dinner of beet salad, small red wine spaghetti and a glass of zinfandel at Bar La Grassa with El Jefe Friday night, while Gus slept peacefully next to us. I love that we live across the street from BLG, and that they serve til 2 am on the weekends. So, when its freezing out and we want to get out of the house and have a yummy meal at a great restaurant without getting in the car or walking more than 20 steps, we can do just that.

While we were there enjoying our dinner, a tipsy suburban woman stumbled up to our table to tell us how great she thought it was that we had a sleeping baby out at a restaurant at 11 pm. And then passive aggressively added that "some people" would think there's something wrong with that. She blabbered on about herself for 15 long minutes, telling us she had 3 kids in under 3 years (which in my opinion is complete lunacy) and waaay TMI about her life and parenting style. We just wanted to eat our dinner in peace, without the rude interruption of a drunk suburban mom who doesn't go out on the town often enough. And I really couldn't care less what people think if we decide to bring our sleeping baby across the street to eat dinner at any time of night. I guess "some people" who choose to live in the burbs don't have the luxury of knowing what its like to live in an urban environment where you can walk 20 steps to the best restaurant in town with a baby who can sleep through anything because you live in a loft with no silence chamber rooms and take him lots of places. But lucky for us, we do.

2. Saturday night "date night" w El Jefe that included "39 Steps" at The Guthrie which was hilarious, clever and extremely well-acted..4 actors played more than 100 parts in the play and they were all fantastic, followed by a ridiculously fun annual bad sweater party, wearing normal sweaters, as were many of the people there. Maybe we're all growing up or something. Or I just didn't feel like buying another ugly, overpriced sweater from Ragstock that I wear once and then put in storage.

3. Brunch at Red Stag with one of my besties - first time there for brunch and it was delish. I heart brunching, need to do it more often and look forward to brunching at my favorite beach side spots when we are in Laguna Beach for all of January - we leave in less than a week and I cannot wait.

4. Having three good friends and a super cute doggie over to make some incredible homemade pizzas, drink good wine, listen to music, catch up, play with baby G and hang out on a chilly Sunday night. I also serenaded them with some Manheim Steamroller Christmas arrangements featuring my horrendous piano skills.

5. Candles, fireplace, Christmas decor, Christmas music, hot buttered rum and lots of staying inside and snuggling with my two favorite guys.
