Sunday was a gorgeous fall day, and we continued our annual autumn tradition of taking a nice littel day trip down to Lake City near Lake Pepin to spend an afternoon picking apples at our friend's parents apple orchard. And we always drive the extra 30 minutes to Nelson, WI to grab a sandwich and glass of vino at the Nelson Creamery and modern wine bar, which would seem more at home in Sonoma than Wisconsin. Now I have three huge bags of apples and need to figure out something to bake or make..I'm thinking of getting all domestic and attempting some apple coffee cake and a large batch of applesauce. Or I might just use them as fall decor on the roofdeck like I do every other year.
