Cruel & Unusual April Fool's Prank on the Good People of NYC:

Gothamist reports that this morning, some meanie April Fool's pranksters put up signs at several empty storefronts announcing that Manhattanites would be in double double heaven this summer. They even dressed up as In-N-Out employees and handed out flyers. If you've ever had a double double, you know this is no laughing matter..In-N-Out puts all other burgers/fast food chains to shame. I make sure to scarf down at least one double double every time I'm in Cali and its pure heaven. When I lived there I ate more double doubles than I care to admit - especially when my office in SF was conveniently located within walking distance of the In-N-Out at Fisherman's Wharf.

Sadly for NYC, a rep for In-N-Out confirms this is all just an April Fool's prank, and they have no plans to open in NYC anytime soon. The rep went on to explain, "We're a small, family-owned business out here on the West Coast. We grind all our own all beef patties and deliver them to our locations every day, so because of the logistics it's just not something we're considering."

Turns out it was all an elaborate, video taped prank for CollegeHumor.com:
"We pulled a prank on New York City today where we tried to convince everybody In-N-Out Burger (our favorite West Coast burger chain) was opening up here. We made signs, hired actors to dress as employees, made flyers, etc. Lots of people bought it. Tons of people, actually. Then In-N-Out commented and the jig was up."

Damn you, crazy college kids.
