It's the first March 18th in several years that I've woken up without a case of the hungzies..something I def haven't missed during the past 38 weeks of non-drinking/growing a human in my body. I did gorge a bit yesterday with my only vice: food, glorious food. I had never tried a Mc Donald's Shamrock Shake before and normally hate McyDs but decided to try one, and it was delish - especially since I enjoyed it while cruising around town with the top down on a gorgeous 60+ degree, sunny day.
We wanted to celebrate St. Patty's last night, but I knew I would not be able to deal with a bunch of obnoxious, wasted idiots in beads and green hats (ie most of my friends and me every other year) at a crowded Irish pub, of which we have many here in the Twin Cities. I got a little taste of that on Saturday when we had lunch at Sweeney's in St. Paul on the way home from a "Bringing Baby Home" workshop in lovely Woodbury (worst burb ever but the workshop was very informative) and there were a bunch of loud, drunken college kids celebrating early and they were driving me crazy. I've learned just how annoying drunk people are to those who are sober in the last 9 months. Luckily, some of our favorite friends were heading to WA Frost in St. Paul for reuben paninis, fries and beers, so we joined them for a delicious and mellow St. Patty's celebration. I don't normally order reubens but the one at Frost is awesome..I highly recommend. And plan to spend more time there this summer..love their gorgeous outdoor patio, amazing cocktails and spectacular food.
