Just Go There: Tomales Bay & Pt Reyes, CA

I just came across this fabulous Travel & Leisure article on culinary exploration in western Marin county, with suggestions on where to find a gourmet picnic of Cowgirl Creamery cheeses and local vino, and hike to gorgeous areas like the Pt Reyes Lighthouse and Tomales Bay, where you can visit Hog Island Oyster Company and pluck fresh oysters right out of the bay. You bring your own bottle of sauv blanc, throw your oysters on the grill or eat them raw with a little lemon and hot sauce right there on the picnic tables while watching the sea otters swim by. Absolute Perfection. We brought one of our favorite couples to SF, Napa and Marin in 2007 for a fabulous, gastronomic, wine soaked trip - more photos here - but I haven't been back to Pt Reyes or Tomales Bay since then. I definitely plan to do some more culinary exploring in this region when I am in the Bay Area next week. Can't wait.
