I hate most of these bands with a passion..not Semisonic cuz they're from Mpls and used to play "Closing Time" at the old Loring Bar (now Lurcat) which was one of the coolest bohemian bars I've ever seen. And not Linkin Park cuz my classmate from high school is in that band and I do actually enjoy many of their songs. If this were real, the OC Bros would be all over it - esp DMB, Jack Johnson and Nickelback - the worst band ever created. Totally tubular, dudes.
The actual Coachella line-up was announced earlier today and while it looks pretty sweet, I don't really feel a need to attend again any time soon. Kaskade played the dance tent at Coachella in 2005, opening for Madonna, so of course we got ourselves there, w some friends, front and center. Madge performed several songs from "Confessions on a Dancefloor" which in my opinion is her best work, a true dance music masterpiece. I had tears in my eyes the entire time since I grew up loving her music - it was incredible. We also saw Massive Attack live and they were absolutely amazing.. I heart live trip-hop. So after that magical experience that can't be topped, I don't feel a need to roast in the desert sun with a bunch of hippies in the dirt (it takes place near Palm Desert, on a polo field) waiting in long lines to get water and/or use port a potties year after year. Winter Music Conference in South Beach every March with VIP pool parties, swanky clubs, free bottle service and hilarious (for people watching purposes) guidos galore? Yes please. Coachella? Go once to see what its about..in my opinion all large music festivals with huge line ups like that sound better than they actually are. We also saw Kaskade at Chicago's Lollapalozza in 2009 which was really only fun because we could be backstage with him and Perry Ferrell, sitting in the shade with free bevvies (water for me since I was prego). We tried to venture out to see some other bands but the lines and huge crowds were just too much and we went back to the VIP section, where everything is always better.
