A Striking Opening (See What I Did There??)

Check out Tom Horgen's review of Pinstripes - the fancy new bowling/bocce/bistro near Centennial Lakes in Edina. I was invited to the opening party a few weeks ago, so we brought along a few friends to check it out, then flew off to SF the next day and I haven't had a chance to blog about it until now.

The space is huge (39,000/sf) and gorgeous. Our friends had arrived a little earlier and nabbed a bowling lane right next to the never ending array of fantastic pizza, wine and beer. We could have sat on the comfy leather couches bowling and stuffing our faces all night, but there was more food to be found upstairs - along with more lanes, and it was a ridiculously generous spread. There were oysters, sushi rolls, a meat carving station, salad, sandwiches, pasta, more things I probably didnt' even try, and best of all, a delicious chocolate fountain with everything you could think of to dip in the chocolate..I almost just did a swan dive into it right then and there. Plus unlimited cocktails, wine, beer and a photo booth that we spent quite a bit of time in taking funny photos.

I've been to a lot of grand openings but this one was the most generous I've experienced in Minnesota..it was on par with some of the openings I attended in San Francisco during the height of the dot com boom and I was quite impressed. Next time we are looking for a place to throw some bocce or gutterballs, Pinstripes will be our destination.
