Currently Making Me Happy: North Washington Cafe Will Carry Salty Tart Baked Goods

From City Pages: The coffee-shop with benefits is a hot restaurant concept--as soon as one opens, it quickly becomes the neighborhood clubhouse (see: Lyn-Lake's Common Roots, St. Anthony's Main's Aster Cafe, etc.).

The North Loop will get such a spot when the North Washington Café at 700 Washington Avenue North, Minneapolis, celebrates its grand opening this weekend. The cafe offers coffee, soups, sandwiches, plus Salty Tart baked goods, beer, and wine.

This Saturday, the cafe's grand opening celebration will feature beer and wine specials, meat and cheese tastings, and prize giveaways.

If we feel like leaving our loft in the apparent blizzard that is heading our way Saturday, we may even walk the one block to North Washington Cafe to check out the opening. And I'm sure it will become one of our favorite neighborhood hangouts just as Java J's was and Corner Coffee, Bewiched, Sapor, Cuzzy's, Bev's, Toast, Moose & Sadies, Club Jager and Bar La Grassa are. I heart my hood.
