Want A Delicious Dinner in a Romantic Setting? Head to W.A. Frost.

I can't say I was too upset about the blanket of snow we got on Saturday, because it was our six-year- anniversary, and I knew we were heading to W.A. Frost for dinner after dropping Gus at Jeff's parent's house in White Bear Lake, and meeting our BFFs for a pre-dinner cocktail at the St. Paul Hotel. St. Paul just becomes a magical place when covered in snow and I absolutely love it. Need to spend more time there this winter, and probably will at W.A. Frost.

Lucky for us, we have a good friend who works at Frost and he made our reservation and gave us the best seat in the house in the main dining room, facing the crackling wood burning fireplace and beautiful patio outside. The decor is old school and romantic and on a snowy night becomes extremely cozy. The service was spectacular - everyone we encountered wished us a happy anniversary and they sent out two glasses of bubbly right away, which was lovely. We ordered a cheese plate with three delicious recommendations from our server that came with some nuts, dried fruit and huckleberry compote that was divine. We took our time with the cheese course, ordered some fantastic Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and reminisced about some of our favorite meals we've had in restaurants over the 10+ years we've been together. We've been fortunate enough to travel to many beautiful places together and both love good food and don't mind spending money on a fantastic meal. Some of the top meals on our list were during visits to Florence & Lake Como, Italy, Paris, London, Switzerland, Vancouver, Montreal, New York, Portland and of course San Francisco. All amazing places I feel quite lucky to have been able to visit - some of those meals with close friends, some with just the two of us, all of them spectacular.

For our entrees we shared the Scallop special that had a long description I don't remember and was pretty good, and the Pan Roasted Wild Acres Pekin Duck Breast with a medjool date-goat cheese tartlet, wilted frisee and Moroccan vinaigrette that was seriously one of the best entrees I've ever had anywhere. If you go there, order it. For dessert we had Maple Cheesecake and I ordered a Hot Buttered Rum..they make the best hot drinks I've tasted. Then we headed down to the cozy lounge downstairs for an after-dinner drink..its all exposed brick, comfy couches and cavernous inlets with a roaring fireplace - prettymuch the only place you want to be on a snowy MN night. All in all, a fabulous anniversary celebration - highly recommended if you want a delicious meal and/or a little romance.
