Sayonara Azia..You Were Way Overpriced But I Still Loved You.

I was sad to hear a couple of weeks ago that Azia will be closing next month. I've attended many fabulous, overpriced birthday parties there (seriously..the non-happy hour prices are pretty ridic, esp for cocktails and wine, esp since we are in MSP not NYC), one of them my 29th, and its one of my favorite spots for outdoor sushi and weeknight househead gatherings.  I could go there certain nights and know I'd have some DJ friends in the hizzy for sure. And the happy hour is fantastic..esp for late night grub.

Was even more sad to get this email today..but am looking forward to seeing Thom's new venture downtown next month - and being able to walk there from my loft, and walk home after a few overpriced cocktails. Just hope it can do well in that cursed location of 6th and Hennepin - hopefully its not haunted by bland pasta ghosts of Olive Garden.

"Yes, it's true.  After nearly a decade serving Eat Street and the Whittier Neighborhood, Azia Restaurant, A25 Sushi and The Caterpillar Lounge will be closing our doors sometime in early August.  We don't own our building at 26th and Nicollet, and unfortunately it has many growing problems that make it unsuitable for our operations.

We are deeply saddened to be leaving the corner we've grown to love and we know you are sad to see us go.  Please come by in the next few weeks and help us say goodbye to this iconic restaurant. We will be open as usual for lunch, dinner and drinks.  The exact date of our closing is not yet confirmed, but we will keep in touch with you as we know more.

Don't be entirely dismayed... because the story isn't over.   You may have heard that just two days after the closing of Azia, we will be opening our new fusion-concept at the corner of 6th Street and Hennepin Avenue in Downtown Minneapolis.

Azia wouldn't go out without a bang, and of course we'll be popping the cork with you one last time.  So, in the next few weeks, we are hosting a number of special events celebrating the food, drinks, and shared stories of Azia Restaurant.  Watch out for these announcements in your email boxes.

Onward and upward!  To 6th and Hennepin!

Keep in touch with our new restaurant project on Facebook and Twitter - we'll be offering special invitations to sneak-peak menu tastings and opening parties for all of our loyal customers.

Best,

Thom Pham
