I haven't been home from Cali a week but just booked tickets for our next adventure - the Pacific Northwest, a week from today. Jeff has a week off of work in between projects and rather than sit on our arses like normal people would, we did some research and planned a cheap little week-long getaway to one of the most beautiful parts of America. We're flying in to Portland and out of Seattle ($69 one way on Sun Country!) and plan to journey through the Cascade mountains via Amtrak, staying with friends who live in the beautiful cities of Portland and Seattle along the way. The only place we are staying in a hotel is Vancouver, and we found a fabulous Westin right on the water that's less than the price of a Days Inn thanks to our Starwood Amex card. The weather looks to be about 65 degrees and sunny every day. Gorgeous. I plan to take a lot of photos. And eat a lot of fabulous food - Oregon specializes in Pinor Noir and chocolate - two of my favorite things - and I've never met a restaurant in Portland I didn't love. Seattle can give me a nice caffeine fix and I've heard Vancouver is a cleaner, more beautiful San Francisco with an Asian flair. We'll also spend one night with my uncle who lives in Anacortes, just an hour ferry ride from the San Juan Islands where it is prime orca watching season. Umm..I think I'm going to enjoy this trip.
