WHO:
Project Healthy Smile, KOKOON, Local Motion, Sara Beth Goldfine of SBG Designs and Megan Mitsch of M.Bridget Designs have come together to create a fabulous fashion event for a wonderful cause during MN Spring Fashion Week. Proceeds from Styles For Smiles Spring 2011 will benefit Project Healthy Smile - a local non-profit dedicated to providing dental supplies and oral health education to underprivileged children globally. DJ Fatty will spin music at the event and there will be an Interactive Photo Booth, with photos taken by Serah Sauser and Mini-Makeovers by Brett Dorrian Artistry Studios.

WHAT:
Styles For Smiles Spring 2011 will feature a Runway Show showcasing colorful spring couture by KOKOON & Local Motion, Wine, Hors d'oeuvres, an Interactive Photo Booth and Mini-Makeovers - all for FREE. It will also be a rare private shopping experience as Kokoon Design Studio becomes a modern pop up boutique. Guests can view fresh spring looks on the lovely Ignite models and purchase them right then and there, along with the perfect jewelry pieces from local designers SBG Designs & M.Bridget Designs.  And go home with a goodie-stocked gift bag. Much more fun than shopping at a mall, and all for a great cause: A portion of the proceeds from the clothing and jewelry sales will directly benefit Project Healthy Smile, to bring oral health education and dental supplies to impoverished and underprivileged children globally. There will also be a raffle and silent auction to raise money for Project Healthy Smile.

WHY:
Project Healthy Smile’s inspiration comes from the tremendous need for dental health education in many countries worldwide. While traveling through some of the most impoverished regions of the world, Co-Founders and Executive Directors Hollie Mae Schultz and Michelle Patterson found that basic dental needs are not being met. Generally, this stems from poverty and lack in dental health education. They were saddened to learn some children were sharing toothbrushes and many children did not even know what a toothbrush or toothpaste were. These are basic necessities that every child deserves. The birth of Project Healthy Smile began with their first mission in Vietnam. They personally donated floss, toothbrushes, toothpaste and tongue scrapers to the children of Agape Children’s Home. In addition, they provided a lesson on proper dental care and oral health. They also explained the importance of compliance to the children’s caregivers who were thankful and supportive. The ladies saw that even with limited resources we were able to make an enormous and positive impact on these beautiful children. “We are excited to begin this amazing journey. Project Healthy Smile will protect and preserve the smiles of our future.” PHS is an all-volunteer organization. For more on Project Healthy Smile, please visit: http://projecthealthysmile.org/
